DFSee downloads - package - installers - CD - USB-stick - diskette

DFS icon   Latest DFSee complete ZIP archive using '14x' filename (8.5 Mb ZIP, all 5 platforms)
This is the complete standard package that includes all binary versions for OS2/eCS, DOS, Windows-NT/XP/7/8/10, Linux and Mac plus some very useful scripts and the ASCII documentation and examples in the DFS*.TXT and *.PDF files. Note that after a short evaluation period you are required to register and pay for the program. Unregistered versions remind you of this at startup and termination of the program and it is not possible to use batch-mode for unattended operation. Otherwise the program is fully functional.

Warpin   Latest DFSee as WARPIN installer using '14x' filename (5.5 Mb EXE, OS2/eCS only!)
This contains all OS2 related stuff, the documentation and the executable to create a FreeDOS bootable diskette with DFSDOS on it.
The Warpin installer will install the files in a specified directory, and create a nice DFSee folder on your desktop with the program and documentation objects inside. It can be moved anywhere you like after installation.

MS-installer   Latest DFSee as Windows MSI archive using '14x' filename (4.5 Mb, W2K/XP/Vista/Win7/8/10 only!)
Either run the MSI directly from this web-page, or download the MSI file, open the download folder with Explorer and double-click the archive. It uses the standard installer that comes with Windows-2000 and XP. The archive contains all Windows related stuff, the documentation and the executable to create a FreeDOS bootable diskette with DFSDOS on it. The MSI installer will install the files in a specified directory, and create a DFSee folder in your startup menu with the program and documentation objects inside.
Note that the installer, and DFSWIN itself have NOT been tested with Vista yet, they may or may not work. In any case you'll probably have to do something to make sure the started executable runs with administrator rights.

Individual downloads per platform

The package is also available as a few separate SMALL downloads, when you don't need everything! Select one of:

Latest 14.x version, text files only (250 Kb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, PDF files only (900 Kb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, DOS files only (1.2 Mb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, OS/2 files only (1.2 Mb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, Windows files only (1 Mb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, Linux files only (1.3 Mb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, Linux TARBAL (1.2 Mb .tgz)

Latest 14.x version, Mac OS X files only (1.1 Mb ZIP)

Latest 14.x version, Mac OS X TARBAL (1 Mb .tgz)

To install the TARBALs on a typical Linux or Mac OS X system use commands much like the following:

  mkdir dfsee
  cd dfsee
  tar -x -z -f /download/dfsee14x_yyy.tgz
  chmod +x setup
  ./setup

Where 'x' is the minor version, and 'yyy' is 'linux' or 'mac' respectively. And to run DFSee ('su' required unless you are logged on as 'root'):

  sudo
  ./dfsee

More user-friendly ways of installing for Linux (packages, RPM) and the MAC (App-bundle, DMG image) are under investigation.

  5.04 16-bit DOS versions (220 Kb ZIP)
These are the two 16-bit, non-windowed DOS versions DFSMDOS.EXE and DFSLDOS.EXE. They should not be needed in normal cases, all functionality is contained in the new 32-bit DFSDOS.EXE. However, it seems there are some problems accessing the disks using DFSDOS.EXE from within a Windows-9x Dosbox on the desktop. About the only reason to use it in Win9x is for rebooting automatically to a different operating system with the DFSee SETBOOT command and with IBM bootmanager installed (see DFSHOWTO.TXT item 33).

To allow that with the 5.xx and later versions of DFSee, the 16-bit versions are made available as well. These versions will NOT be updated to newer functionality as the full versions will be. They will stay on the 5.04 level ...

Final 4.xx version for registered users (1.1 Mb ZIP)
This is version 4.32, the last version without a menu system ...

Final 3.xx version (freeware) (850 Kb ZIP)
This is version 3.42, the last version that was freeware ...
